Alaska Natives, American Indians, and First Nations People of Canada in a powwow setting to share similarities and diversities, to honor the elders, and children, and to educate the general public of the heritage of the indigenous people of North America.

POWWOW ETIQUETTE: For many first-time visitors to powwow, the activities and events may seem new and perhaps confusing, and you may wonder what is appropriate behavior. The most important thing to remember is respect and consideration of all. The Master of Ceremonies will carefully explain what will take plae during the course of this gathering. He will let you know when it is appropriate to join in, and when it is time to sit back and watch. Please be advised that the MC will also let the crowd know when photographs, video, or audio recordings can or cannot take place. We want all guests and participants to enjoy themselves. This powwow is not a political or religious event, it is rather a spiritual and cultural gathering. The MSIP committee reserves the right to confiscate any unauthorized film or video, so please abide by these rules.

Don not pass through the dance circle, go around the outside perimeter. While dancing in the sacred circle, please dance in a clockwise direction only. Dance as much as you can and make sure your family and friends dance also. When not dancing, please be quite and respect the circle.

The sequence for the powwow grand entry is the eagle staff, followed by the Veteran's Color Guard, the MSIP Princess Court, the head dancers, the elder men, young men, boys, elder women, young women, girls.

Be courteous and do not touch the regalias or take photos of any participants unless specific permission has ben granted.

Any photos, video, audio recordings, and/or written material about this event, are deemed property of the MSIP Non-Profit Org. and may be used as promotional material in the future.

Please keep Mother Earth clean and pick up after yourself, leave all pets at home (exception for official guide-dogs). and stay out of private camping area. No unauthorized soliciting shall take place, all vendors must have paid vending area. NO alcohol, drugs, weapons, or inebriated persons will be permitted at the grounds. Smoking of legal substances will only be permitted in the designated smoking area. Please help us; report violations to security personnel at once.
